	MEET OUR PHYSICIANS For the fourth straight year, members of Dermatologist Medical Group of North County have been honored by the San Diego County Medical Society in conjunction with San Diego Magazine as Top Doctors in the region. Over 2,500 members of the San Diego County Medical Society cast their votes electronically for the physicians they would take a close family member to if they needed to see a doctor in a specific specialty. With more than 8,000 licensed physicians in the county, we are proud to have three of our doctors highly regarded by their peers and community. Dr. Robert Scheinberg Dr. Scheinberg, who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, is a co-founder of Dermatologist Medical Group of North County. After completing his medical training in New York, Dr. Scheinberg moved to San Diego in 1976. Dr. Scheinberg's areas of interest are varied and include Mohs micrographic surgery, sports-related skin disorders, immunologic diseases and cosmetic dermatology. He is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Scheinberg has served as past president of the San Diego Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Selected as a TOP DOCTOR in Dermatology in 2005, 2006 and 2007 by peers. Dr. Susan Shimomaye Dr. Shimomaye, who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 1988. Dr. Shimomaye is a native of California who came to San Diego after her medical training. She is especially interested in dermatologic surgery, including Mohs micrographic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Shimomaye is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Steven Leshaw Dr. Leshaw, who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, is a co-founder of Dermatologist Medical Group of North County. He is a native of New York who came to North County in 1975 after serving as chief resident in dermatology at the New York University Skin and Cancer Center. Dr. Leshaw has a special interest in treating skin cancer through multiple techniques, including Mohs micrographic surgery. He is also a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Leshaw has served as past president of the San Diego Society for Dermatologic Surgery.. Dr. Alice Liu Dr. Alice Liu is a graduate of Princeton University and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology and Immunology. After completing a one-year internship in internal medicine, Dr. Liu completed a three-year residency in dermatology at the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Liu is a voluntary assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Liu is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, San Diego Dermatological Society, and the San Diego Society for Dermatologic Surgery, where she is a past president and past secretary-treasurer. She is also a Fellow with the American Society for Mohs Surgery. Dr. Sherry Rotunda Dr. Rotunda, who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2001. Dr. Rotunda, originally from Virginia, received her undergraduate degree from Drew University in 1993. Her medical education was completed in Pennsylvania, first at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine for medical school and then at Thomas Jefferson University for residency. Dr. Rotunda's areas of interest include pediatric dermatology, acne, immunologic skin diseases and dermatologic surgery, including Mohs micrographic surgery. Dr. Judy Koperski Dr. Koperski, who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 1998 after practicing with Scripps Clinic for 11 years. Dr. Koperski is originally from the Midwest and came to California in 1977 to attend Stanford University as an undergraduate. Dr. Koperski has several areas of particular interest including hair disorders and treatment of spider and varicose veins. She is an active member of the American College of Phlebology. She is a past president of the San Diego Dermatological Society, the vice president of the prestigious North American Clinical Dermatological Society (2005), and the chief of dermatology at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla (2005). She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Diego. Selected as a TOP DOCTOR in Dermatology in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 by peers. Dr. Jennifer Eastlack Dr. Eastlack, who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2003. Dr. Eastlack is a native of California who received her medical education in Texas at Baylor University. She then returned to California for her residency at the University of California, San Diego. Her particular areas of interest include pediatric dermatology and dermatological surgery. Dr. Susan Detwiler Dr. Detwiler, who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and American Board of Pathology, joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2003. Dr. Detwiler worked in the San Diego area for seven years before joining DMG. She initially came to California for medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles. She left for residency training in North Carolina and returned for a fellowship in dermatopathology at Stanford University. Dr. Detwiler's areas of interest include dermatopathology, acne, skin cancers and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Detwiler is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. David Thomas Dr. Thomas, who is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2005. Dr. Thomas, a native of California, received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco in 1994 and moved to San Diego where he served at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton as Director of Medical Services and chief of the medical staff. Dr. Thomas’ varied interests include treatment of acne, eczema, psoriasis, abnormal moles, and skin cancer. Dr. Samantha Ghiselli Dr. Ghiselli, board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined DMG in January 2007. Dr. Ghiselli was born in South Africa and has lived in Southern California since the age of ten. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and her M.D. degree from UC Irvine where she graduated first in her medical school class. Dr. Ghiselli completed her internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego followed by her dermatology residency at UC Irvine. Dr. Ghiselli specializes in medical, cosmetic and surgical dermatology including MOHS micrographic surgery. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ghiselli is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the California Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Deidre Buddin Dr. Buddin, who is Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2008, after practicing in La Jolla since 2004. Dr. Buddin is a San Diego native who received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her M.D. degree from New York Medical College where she graduated first in her medical school class. Dr. Buddin completed her internship in internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of California at Los Angeles where she served as Chief Resident and received the outstanding dermatology resident of the year award two years in a row. Dr. Buddin’s areas of specialty include cosmetic dermatology, laser surgery, and medical dermatology, including acne, eczema, skin cancer screening and treatment. Dr. Curt Vogel Dr. Curt Vogel, who is board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2008, after practicing in Denver Colorado since 2007. Dr. Vogel, is a native of Colorado, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona and his M.D. degree from University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Vogel completed his internship in Mayo Clinic – Scottsdale AZ. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Wisconsin – Madison Hospital and Clinics, Madison, WI. Dr. Vogel’s areas of specialty include cosmetic dermatology, medical dermatology, mohs surgeries, including acne, eczema, skin cancer screening and treatment. MEET OUR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS Amanda McConnell, MSPAS, PA-C Mrs. McConnell joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2003. Mrs. McConnell is a California native who received her undergraduate education at California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Western University of Health Sciences. Mitzi Bray, MSPAS, PA-C Ms. Bray joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2002. Ms. Bray is a native of California who received her undergraduate education at Westmont College and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Western University of Health Sciences. Traci Wilke, MMS, PA-C Ms. Wilke joined Dermatologist Medical Group of North County in 2002. Ms. Wilke is a California native who received her undergraduate education at the University of California, Irvine and her Masters of Medical Science from Midwestern University in Illinois.
